VALUING NATURAL SPACE AND LANDSCAPE FRAGMENTATION IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA By Lee. Wyatt Carpenter A Thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science, Environmental Studies, Virginia Commonwealth University. Virginia Commonwealth University, 2016 Major Professor: Clifford J. Fox, Ph.D. Adjunct Faculty, Center for Environmental Studies Hedonic pricing methods and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) were used to evaluate relationships between sale price of single family homes and landscape fragmentation and natural land cover. Spatial regression analyses found that sale prices increase as landscapes become less fragmented and the amount of natural land cover around a home increases. The projected growth in population and employment in the Richmond, Virginia region and subsequent increase in land development and landscape fragmentation presents a challenge to

Investigation of Pedodiversity Indices, Soil Differentiation and Soil-Landscape Evolution in the Semi-Arid Region of Chaharmahal-Va-Bakhtiyari Province
Landscapes are considered as a series of different land units with a size, shape and location arrangement that are permanently under the influence of natural events and human activities. Understanding the dynamics and heterogeneity of landscapes and environmental changes is of great importance. In order to quantitatively analyze and interpret the factors affecting the changes in the environment...

Land use change is certainly the most important factor that affects the conservation of natural ecosystems, resulting the conversion of natural lands such as forests and pastures into agricultural, industrial and urban areas. Despite numerous studies investigating landscape patterns due to land use change, the driving forces of landscape change has been less studied in Iran. In this study, Arti...
